Chevy Volt: 2012 Review Video
Website: http://MrEnergyCzar.com 2012 Chevy Volt review and test drive.
This Chevrolet car is full of surprises and is extremely efficient. The Chevy Volt should save me 9,000 gallons of gas over the next 8-9 years compared to my former SUV.

I dont think cars ...
I dont think cars are the answer, in any form. By this I mean private cars which are shaped like and weigh the same as a regular car. The answer lies in building cities around people. The problem with cars can best be summed up by saying, the car first creates distance and then offers up? itself as the solution to the problem it created. Velomobiles with electric assist are far more efficient then any electric car. Electric rail is also the answer. Cars are not!
Didn't like that ...
Didn't like that much. Way to small, only 4 seats, didn't like the center dash (it doesn't seem easy to get the readings from the buttons). If you can afford a little more and wait, I would go with the Tesla Model S that is probably hitting the roads next year. But, that's? an all electric car. And for today I would get the Nissan Leaf.
@sangolt88 No, not ...
@sangolt88 No, not realty if I am not mistaking the little Polo is a 5 passenger car while the Volt is only? a 4 passenger car and when it runs out of battery which is in about 20 miles if it is driven like a Polo at 80 MPH with AC on then you get 38 MPG but then again we have no Polos here in the US & diesel is never promoted as a gas saver here only as a torque producer US government taxes Gasoline at a 26% rate you do the math:-)
@sangolt88 There's ...
@sangolt88 There's no way around not destroying our economy because we'll have to? adjust to our energy reality eventually or when it's forced upon us. Low subsidized gas prices in the states can only shield us from this energy reality for so long.... Europe built its society around true gas prices, we didn't.
@MrEnergyCzar We ...
@MrEnergyCzar We pay about $10 a gallon here in Norway, but most of it is taxed (around 65%). I think higher gas prices in the US would have a? worse effect on your economy though.
@sangolt88 In the ...
@sangolt88 In the states over sized cars is a cultural "right" unfortunately so? the car wouldn't sell. $6 gas would change that.
A diesel Polo? can ...
A diesel Polo? can get 65-70 mpg, buts thats a small car though.
@saquibs20 I think ...
@saquibs20 I think you? mean if you never plug it in? The EPA rates it 94MPGe in electric only mode and 37 MPG in gas only mode so it's a blend of numbers. If you're one of the few that regularly drives more than 65 miles between charges, the Prius will use less gas. Volt uses less for typical daily commutes of 40 miles etc...
@MrEnergyCzar Hi, ...
@MrEnergyCzar Hi, how much? average mpg do you get if you use just gas?
Your description ...
Your description and walk-through was very? exhaustive and appreciated.

40,000 will buy a ...
40,000 will buy a lot of fuel ...... what's the use of saving fuel if the car costs 25,000 dollars more ???? A 1986 Datsun B-210 got 40mpg and cost about 5,000 bucks ...... we need to build a few of those , and we need to? scrap the airbags and ABS brake system while we're at it .......
@rollinswitch check ...
@rollinswitch check this "bit.ly / stygPl": Can you add any more model now ? If we add more models to this list? we can think of a e-car lower price and a higher battery efficiency
@0HippyHunter0 My ...
@0HippyHunter0 My goal was to use the least amount? of oil as an end user without any range limitations, period. Love the Prius but I didn't want to use the extra 2,500 gallons of gas as an end user when owning it versus the Volt.....
Thanks for the well ...
Thanks for the well done review. Looks like a nice car but I am truly dissapointed in the performance, if this is the best that GM can do they will? not sell many of them. Efficient as long as the drives are relatively short. The weight is way too high and the drive system is low tech for today's standards. When they get over 100 mile range on electric and use an efficient low hp ICE multi-fuel generator system for backup and charging while running, reduce the gadget options, I might consider 1
You didn't do an ...
You didn't do an apples to apples comparison when you compared price. You compare it to a "gas guzzling" (wtf that means) SUV. Your appropriate comparison would be a prius, Fiesta, Yaris, ect; not an SUV. You also didn't account for the battery life or replacement cost. You also didn't count the? cost of your electricity, that solar grid couldnt be cheap if you're charging your car exclusively off of that.
@omarsuarez73 One ...
@omarsuarez73 One reason is the tax credit. Why should I have to pay for your car? You should either have to pay it all, or not get the car, end of story. Better yet, as demand for electricity for charging all these cars goes up so will prices at night. So, not only did you steal the money needed for your tax credit, but you then cost me more money on my utility bill. Hey, thanks pal. Lets not forget that car wouldn't exist without $24/bil in taxpayer? funded bailouts. Thanks for screwing me.

every onethat has a electric car grab? the orange tube by the engine :)
@spyder64 the grid ...
@spyder64 the grid isn't as simple as that as electrons flow from all over. Generally the grid is half coal in the states. CT has the highest rates after? Hawaii, probably due to no coal plants in state but instead using expensive gas power plants and nuclear.....
Have you done the ...
Have you done the calculations of how much oil or coal is burned by your local power company to produce the electricity you use for charging? You have to factor that in to how much less? oil/gas you may be using.

wow love it. sounds great and nice vid thumbs? up
Got one a couple ...
Got one a couple days ago, traded in a 2010 Camaro SS on it.? Love it, much more useful as a car. Handles great, surprising performance. Nice view. Babes like it.
Charge it off my PV solar system here...nice. A luxury car by many standards.

I test drove a Volt ...
I test drove a Volt yesterday. I'm a pro EV guy. Is it unfair for me to say the Volt only has 1/3 the distance of other EVs on battery power? I had the Volt's battery completely depleted within 20 miles only going 60-70 mph on the freeway. It appeared fully charged when I started. I was also discovered that the engine doesn't do any battery recharging at all. Volt and? Leaf are roomy and accelerate nicely compared to dinky Think City and Wheego. I own a Think City.
@mikemorrison281 I ...
@mikemorrison281 I need to regularly drive more than 100 miles...?
Um, the Nissan Leaf ...
Um, the Nissan Leaf is? cheaper with a longer range, all electric with no gas use at all...why choose the Volt???
I really think? the ...
I really think? the zombies will just get stuck in the wheel wells on this unit, you need one of these in a Truck with 4x4
Nice review!?
